Year 5 Foodbank

Paul from the Sherwood Foodbank came into school on Thursday 19th December 2024 to present us with a certificate and card. Well done Year 5 for working so hard on your charity!

Year 5 Explorer Day  14-11-24

Y5 Charity: Sherwood Forest Foodbank posters 12th November

We were visited by a volunteer from the Sherwood Forest Foodbank who shared with us what it is like to be involved with a foodbank. We found out how the foodbank works and what they do in our local community to help others who may need it. We then created posters using an app to promote the charity and persuade others to donate food items to our shopping trolley located in the school reception. 

NASA Day 4th November

We immersed ourselves in NASA and discovered key events within our history linked to space exploration. We then tasted space food and received our NASA lanyards!

Southwell Minster Earth and Space day - 16th October 

We visited Southwell Minster and took part in a range of activities. We explored different meteorites and where they were found, took part in a craft session, spent time in a planetarium and observed the moon exhibition by Luke Jarram. 

Computing - Staying safe online Apple Clips - 15th October

Using our knowledge of keeping safe online, we created short apple clips to demonstrate to others what they should do if they were made to feel uncomfortable online. 

Problem Solving Day - 15th October

We had a range of problem solving activities to complete whilst working in small groups. 

Close Reading - Tuesday 15th October 2024

We have been working on our retrieval skills this half term. 

Outdoor Learning 14th October

We went outside to practice our spelling rules using nature to help us.

DT- 10th October 2024

The Year 5 children are learning to follow a healthy recipe independently. They had to then refine it and adapt it to improve the taste, appearance and nutrition.

 On Wednesday 9th October 2024 the Year 5 children are learning about Sikhism and they went to visit the Gurdwara. they had to wear scarves and take off their shoes when they arrived. They tasted Asian food, learned about Sikhism and talked about the 5 Ks.
