Local History (Coal Mining)

Local History- Coal Mining

Have you ever wondered what it is like to go down a mine? In our third topic of the year we will be learning all about our local history, specifically looking at the Clipstone headstocks. We will be using maps to locate mines throughout the UK and learning just why the mines were so dangerous. In addition to this, we will be learning about how animals were so important during the mines and how they helped to keep miners safe. Our DT skills will be put to the test as we aim to create our own version of the Clipstone headstocks.
