We are Proud

Church Links

We have been really fortunate to develop some close links with our local church, All Saints. Children and staff have enjoyed celebrating Harvest festival at All Saints, along with our parents and school community. Alan Darlington conducted the service, and it was wonderful to hear the children singing the harvest songs we had practised in school. At Christmas we have again joined Alan and Reverend Ian Webb, to share some readings and Christmas carols, it was a lovely atmosphere and the children behaved beautifully.

As well as celebrating Harvest and Christmas, each year group has visited All saints to learn about an aspect of Christianity. Year 3 learnt about the colours and symbols in a church. Year 4 learnt about church buildings inside and out. Year 5 were finding out about the importance of baptism in the Christian church and year 6 will be learning about marriage when they visit All Saints Church. It has been wonderful for our children to have first hand experience of visiting a church within our local community.

HARVEST FESTIVAL 2021

Last week the pupils at Newlands held their harvest festival at All Saints church.

We collected 29 full shopping bags of food, which have been sent to the food bank in Mansfield Woodhouse, that serves our area and others.

Thomas (year 4) said, "It made me happy to see the donations because people might not be able to buy food for themselves". Tori (year 4) added, " I liked all the songs we sang".
