We are Proud

Y6 Residential 2023

Sunday 10th September 2023

After a very long coach journey, much longer than planned due to road works and road closures, we finally arrived at the centre! It was straight into fire alarm testing and then everyone was kitted out in waterproofs and walking boots. We just had time to put all our belongings into our dorms and it was time for our much-needed lunch!

By 12:30pm, after all being fed and watered, the children were placed into 5 groups and the fun began!

Two groups went off-site in the Hagg Farm minibuses to go and cave or canoe, whilst three groups stayed around the centre doing either a local walk, bush craft and fire making or orienteering.

On return to the centre, it was shower time and then all groups sat down to a wonderful evening meal, cooked by Ms Elliott, Mrs Jackson and Mr Robinson, of pizza, jacket potatoes and salad, followed by chocolate fudge cake with either cream or ice-cream.

A quick change into PJs and everyone settled down to watch a movie. Then it was bedtime and amazingly, all dormitories were asleep by 11:30pm - a first in the history of coming to Hagg Farm (which all the staff were very grateful for!).

Tuesday 12th September

We all woke up to a very damp, misty morning and there were many faces over breakfast that told us of the reluctance the children felt of going out in the weather! However, it wasn't long before they were all full of anticipation for the activities ahead.

By lunchtime, the weather had changed for the better (thank goodness).

As the children waited for their evening meal of curry, rice and naan bread, followed by caramel sponge and ice cream, it was time to pack their cases and retrieve the countless socks that had apparently decided to 'walk by themselves' into the shower areas!

After evening meal, we gathered around the fire pit and toasted marshmallows and made somores - delicious!

Birthday cake surprise for Mrs Jackson

It takes a special kind of person to give up their birthday to embark on their first ever residential! Well done to all Y6 for managing to keep the card you all signed a secret!
