At Newlands, safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone and our key priority is to ensure, no matter how busy we are, we hear what people say and act accordingly. Every individual within the community will play their part, including working with professionals from other agencies, to meet the needs of all of our pupils, parents/carers and staff, particularly our most vulnerable.
Our school, led by senior members of staff, aims to provide a safe environment and vigilant culture where children, young people and adults can learn and be safeguarded. If there are safeguarding concerns we will respond with appropriate action in a timely manner for those who may need help.
Where staff or others need to raise concerns, these can be to the Headteacher/Designated Person for safeguarding who will coordinate a response. Concerns can be raised directly with Children’s Social Care where further advice and support can be offered.
Up to date, regular training is key to the effective practice at Newlands. Keeping abreast of modern day concerns e.g. grooming, county lines and issues which are contextual to our setting are vital.
If any parent or member of the community has any concerns please speak to one of our designated offices.
